Norfolk Virginian June 24, 1891

MERCER - At the residence of his father, corner Water and Claiborne Avenue, 
Brambleton, Monday, June 22, at 10 o'clock p.m., THOMAS MERCER, son of Alphonso 
and Virginia Mercer, aged 19 years.
Funeral will take place from McKendree M.E. Church THIS (Wednesday) MORNING  at 
10 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.

Funeral services over the remains of the late Thomas O. Mercer took place at 10 
a.m. yesterday, from McKendree M.E. Church, Brambleton Ward, in the presence of 
many friends and relatives. Rev. W.H. Edwards, the pastor, officiated, and the 
remains were interred in Elmwood. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Lewis Hall, 
Brinton Worrell, Joshua Baxter, George Williamson, Howard Hudgins and Ned 
Russell.
