Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 14, 1948

Mrs. Annie Holt Mercer, 84, widow of William H. Mercer and daughter of the late 
Francis P. and Mrs. Fannie Bagnall Holt, died at the residence of her niece, 
Mrs. Sadie Anderson, of Tampa, Fla., Tuesday at 5 p.m.
She was a member of the Freemason Street Baptist Church and had lived in Tampa 
five years. She was a native of Prince George County and a former resident of 
Norfolk.
She is survived by seven nieces, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Fannie Callahan, New York; 
Mrs. Annie Forbes and Mrs. Della McFalls, both of Norfolk; Mrs. Hilda Scott, 
Ivor; Mrs. Susie Mitchell, Surry and Mrs. Doris Barnes, of Newport News; four 
nephews, Paris Holt, of Newport News; Frank Holt, of Washington; James M. Holt, 
of Surry and Henry Holt, of Carrollton and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. James H. 
Holt and Mrs. Walter H. Holt, both of Surry County.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home Sunday 
at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
