Kathryn C. Mercer, 84, passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999.
Mrs. Mercer was born in Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Margaret Nolan 
Carroll and Charles B. Carroll. She was the widow of J. Reid Mercer. She was a 
member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Mercer is survived by her daughter, Kathryn M. VanVoorhees of Darien, 
Conn.; her three sons, Reid Mercer of Champaign, Ill., William C. Mercer of 
Virginia Beach and Richard L. Mercer of Norfolk; and her 10 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Nicholas Catholic 
Church by Father James Noto. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
The family will receive friends at 852 Bishopsgate Lane, Virginia Beach, Va. 
23452, following the graveside services in Norfolk. Memorial donations may be 
made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 644 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 
23452. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
