Final rites for John H. Mercer, Sr., 2908 Corprew avenue, were held recently at
St. John AME Church by the pastor, the Rev. J. R. Johnson.  He was born in
Wilson, NC, and was a member of Malachia Lodge 136 AF and AM and the Lancaster
Beneficial Association.

He died recently at the age of 77.  Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Lydia
Austin Mercer;  two daughters, Mrs. Lucille M. Cuffee, Mrs. Jessie M.
Northington;  one sister, Mrs. Louisiana Brooks;  seven grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.  Also three nephews and two nieces.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
