Virginian Pilot June 30, 1971

Alvah Jerome Merritt Jr. of 916 Craten Road, died Tuesday in a hospital after a 
short illness.
A native of Norfolk, he was a son of Alvah Jerome Merritt Sr. and Mrs. Margaret 
Walker Merritt.
Also surviving are two sisters, Misses Pamela Merritt and Janice Merritt and 
grandparents, John and Mrs. Bernice Merritt Sr. and Mrs. Channie Walker, all of 
Norfolk. 
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Union Christian Church. 
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home has charge.

***The mother's name of Margaret is incorrect in this news article. The name
should be Barbara Walker Merritt, also shown correctly in the obituary of
Alvah Jerome Merritt Sr.***
