Born in Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Giacinto and Rose Leo. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 46 years, Jack Merritt, before he passed away in 2001. She spent many years moving with him all around the world as a Navy wife. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory: her son, John Merritt; daughter, Sandra Hudson; grandchildren, James Merritt (Bekha), Rose Estes (Webb), Meredith Hageman (Eric), and Laura Forstedt (Josh); great-grandchildren, Tristan, Alex and Maddie Hageman and Hope Estes; a great-grandchild, Forstedt, on the way; sister, Dolly Fedeli; brother, John Leo; as well as a large extended family. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. Chapel, on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Leukemia Foundation.
