Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 28, 1952

Mrs. Mary Susan James Messick, 86, widow of Edward L. Messick, a lifelong 
resident of this section, died yesterday at 8:50 a.m. at the residence, Birdneck 
Road, Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Messick was the oldest member of Galilee Episcopal Church, and was a member 
of the Women's Auxiliary, Princess Anne County Post, American Legion.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Georgie E. Gregory, Mrs. Margaret Baublitz 
and Mrs. Eliza M. Gallup, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Esther E. Leighton, of Virginian 
Beach; two sons, Edward J. Messick and Edward L. Messick, Jr., of Norfolk; seven 
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Susan James Messick- The body of Mrs. Messick, widow of Edward L. 
Messick, who died Wednesday, will be taken from the residence of her daughter, 
Mrs. Eliza M. Gallup, 412 West 26th Street, to Galilee Episcopal Church, 
Virginia Beach, for funeral services tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Edmund 
Berkley, rector. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
