Katherine Lena Crowling Messina, of Norfolk and Bells Island, N.C., died at home 
Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, John Joseph Messina, 
and her infant daughter, Katherine Ann.

Surviving are her three sons and their families, John J. and Sharon Messina and 
their son, Jake, of Bells Island; Michael P. and Pamela Messina, their sons, 
Michael and Jason, and daughter Kristen of Charlottesville, Va.; David A. and 
Darcy Messina of Bells Island, and grandchildren, Melissa, Anthony and Deanna; a 
sister, Elizabeth C. Crowling, of Norfolk; nieces, Mary Eunice Kraemer of Virginia 
Beach, and Margaret Dorothy Edwards of Norfolk; and many loving family members.

She was retired from Catholic Charities of Hampton Roads Inc. and a member of St. 
Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church 
at 10 a.m. today. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is in charge.
