W.V. Miles and brothers, Rufus and Ernest Pyler, were drowned yesterday morning between 8 and 9 o'clock in Little Bay, near the Willoughby Spit wharf. The bodies of those drowned were recovered. Those of the Pylers will today be taken to Somerset County, Md., for interment. The body of Captain Miles was brought here and prepared for burial by Undertaker H.C. Smith. Captain Miles leaves a wife but no children. He was 30 years old and had been married eight years. He leaves his parents, two brothers in Norfolk, two in Mathews County and another who is a student at the Medical College at Richmond, besides two sisters. He was born and raised in Norfolk County where he had resided all of his life. W VAIDEN MILES, in the 30th year of his age. The funeral will take place from the LeKies Memorial M.E. Church THIS (Tuesday) MORNING, at 11 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. Virginian Pilot April 7, 1908 ****************************************************************************** The funeral of the late Capt. W. Vaiden Miles was solemnized from LeKies' Memorial Methodist Church at 11 o'clock yesterday morning and was numerously attended by many persons coming from a distance to pay tribute to his memory. The services were conducted by Rev. George F. Greene, pastor of the church,, assisted by Rev. Graham H. Lambeth of Ghent Methodist Church and Rev. R.A. Robinson of Colley Memorial Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth Lodge No. 34, A.F. and A. Masons and Friendship Council No. 16, O.U.A.M. attended the obsequies. There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: B.P. Miles, Will Miles, John Miles, Perry Miles, Rufus Miles and Isaac T. Parks, all brothers of the deceased. The following friends from a distance attended the funeral: Captain Parks and daughter, Thomas Bosman and Captain Beauchamp of Champ, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. I.T. Parks of Baltimore, Mrs. Gus Burton, G.C. White and Herbert Richardson of Richmond, Warren Ballard of Exmore, Va.; Mrs. M.J. Hurst of Matthews County and Mr. and Mrs. Godbey of Roanoke.
