A native of and lifelong Norfolk resident, he was born November 30, 1956, and was the son of the late Edward Millan Sr. and Georgette Saad Millan. A 1975 Maury High School graduate, Edward Millan continued his education studying Opticianry at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. He practiced as an Optician and started his business Master Opticians in 1981. For many years he was active in the downtown Norfolk business community. Mr. Millan served for years on the Board of Directors of the Opticians Association of Virginia. He received the association's Lifetime Membership Award. Edward was also an active member of the Norview Lions Club. He is a past President, was currently serving as the Sight and Hearing Chairman, and recently honored with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He is survived by fiancée Marcia Ashworth of Greenville N.C., two sisters, Charlotte M. Cohea and husband Thomas of Norfolk, and Marie M. Egert of Chesapeake, and two nieces, Danielle J. Cohea of Cleveland, Ohio and Alexandra M. Egert of Chesapeake. Edward deeply loved this family and friends. That love was expressed through his actions daily. He will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. on Friday, February 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father Daniel Klem followed by burial in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
