She was born in Greenville, N.C., Sept. 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Najib George Saad and Manzer Farhat Saad. Georgette was a 1937 graduate of Greenville High School and attended East Carolina Teacher's College. She worked for the United States Treasury Department in Washington D.C., as an executive assistant. During World War II, she volunteered with the USO and the Red Cross. In 1947, Georgette married Edward and moved to Norfolk where she raised three children, as well as working with her husband in his optometric practice. She was a member of the Tidewater Optometric Society Auxiliary and an active member of Sacred Heart Church. Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Charlotte M. Cohea and husband Thomas of Norfolk, Marie M. Egert of Chesapeake, Edward Millan Jr. of Norfolk and his fiancée Marcia Ashworth of Greenville, N.C.; grandchildren, Danielle J. Cohea of Cleveland and Alexandra M. Egert of Chesapeake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Saad and her two brothers, Joseph Saad and George Saad and her sister-in-law Arriett Barnard. She is survived by her three sisters-in-law, Gloria Saliba of Norfolk and Juanita Cayton Saad and Violette Touma Saad, both of Greenville, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Leslie Barnard and wife Jan of Chesapeake, Joseph Saad Jr. and wife Nancy Darden Saad of Winterville, N.C., Jimmy Saad and wife Micki Saad of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Manzer Saad Rowe and husband Edgar Rowe, George Saad Jr. and wife Kimberly Gray-Saad, Michael Najeeb Saad and Josephine Saad Harz and husband Charles Harz, all of Greenville; and eight great-nieces and -nephews. A Christian wake will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, in the Norfolk chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Visitation will follow until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father Daniel Klem followed by burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
