William H. Miller, one of the oldest and best known residents on this side of the river, died yesterday evening, at 6:30 o'clock. He was 76 years old. He had been ill several years and the end came at his home, 123 B street, South Norfolk. Until the government magazine was moved from St. Helena to St. Julian's Creek, giving place to the St. Helena Training Station, Captain Miller was watchman there, which position he held for many years. Captain Miller was of a very jovial disposition and readily made many friends. He was identified with several fraternal organizations. He is survived by a widow and five children, William J., Grover C., Emmit E., Max and Mary A. Miller. The funeral will be conducted from the above residence Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
