Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the loving daughter of the late Margaret Helen (Kelly) and John Sheridan Mahon, Sr. Margaret was the loving wife of the late Lionel Newby Miller for over 55 years. Margaret, lovingly known as Aunt Tootsie, was a woman of great faith who prayed daily and was a long-time member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing the holiday dinners for her family. In her earlier days, she was an accomplished seamstress and knitter who often made clothes for herself and members of her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Helen McGuan, Theresa Mahon, Evelyn Horton, and John S. Mahon, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Mahon. She was the treasured aunt of John Mahon III, James Mahon, Elizabeth Bailey, Michael Hogan, Margaret Hooper, Sr., Allyn Marie Horton, SSND, Albert Horton, Richard Horton, Nancy Canu, and Keith Horton, as well as many grand-nieces and -nephews. Visitation will held at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, on Monday, June 21st from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11:00 AM. She will be buried with her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family thanks the staff and administration of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for their attentive care of Margaret in her last days.
