Norfolk - Mary Frances Spalding Miller, 91, passed away on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, 
in Hampton, FL. She was born to the late John Carroll Spalding and Annie Crump 
Spalding, and lived most of her life in Norfolk before recently moving to Hampton, 
FL. She had retired as head teller after a long career with Atlantic Permanent 
Savings and Loan in Norfolk. She was a longtime member of St. Gregory the Great 
Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. She served the church for many years as a 
member of the Legion of Mary. Mary was preceded in death in 1989, by her husband 
of 49 years, Robert Lowell Miller, of Norfolk, and her two brothers, Leonard 
Spalding and William Edgar Spalding. She is survived by her brother, Bernard 
(Jessie Rae) Spalding of Norfolk; two sons, Phillip (Marcia) Miller and Lowell 
Miller, both of Hampton, FL; four grandchildren, Brandon Miller of Middleburg, FL, 
Starr Lewis of Jacksonville, FL, Richard Scott Miller and Laurie Miller, both of 
Virginia; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held in St. Gregory 
the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015. 
She will be interred in St. Mary 's Cemetery in Norfolk, but there will be no 
graveside services. The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20th 
at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. Florida arrangements are 
under the care of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Starke, Fla. Online condolences
