Miller, and oldest daughter of Daniel H. and Susie E. Brown, died Friday, Feb. 8, at the home of her parents, 764 Avenue B. Mrs. Miller, a native Norfolkian, was a young woman of sterling qualities and unusual mentality. She was graduated from Norfolk Mission College in the class of 1913. After graduation she taught in the city public schools until her marriage in 1917. For the past five years she had made her home in Newport News where her husband, Mr. W. A. Miller, is a member of Huntington High School faculty. About three months ago,Mrs. Miller returned to her Norfolk home because of ill health. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 10, from St. John’s A. M. E. Church of which the deceased had been an active member since childhood. The pastor, Rev. L. L. Berry used as the theme of his remarks “The Ripest Fruit Falls First.” No more fitting tribute could have been paid Mrs. Miller. Rev. J. H. Billups, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, assisted in the services. Miss Olivia Bradley, a classmate, read the eulogy from Delta Alpha Sunday School class. Solos were sung by Mrs. Indiana Archer Knight and Mrs. Alice Harris Coston. Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, a seven-year-old daughter, father, mother, four sisters, and a large circle of relatives and friends.
