Norfolk - Joe Mills of 174 Canton avenue died in a hospital after a short 
illness.

A native of Spring Hope, NC, he was a son of the late Jordan and Mrs. Liza Mills 
and the husband of Mrs. Alice Mills.

He worked for Local 1438 of the ILA and was a shortshoreman.

Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Camp of Newark, NJ;  a 
sister, Mrs. Lanie Jackson of Fayetteville, NC;  three brothers, William Mills 
of Raleigh, James Mills of Zebulon, NC;  and Eddie Mills of Baltimore;  two half 
brothers, Clarence Jones of Zebulon and James Jones of Newark;  two 
grandchildren;  and two great-grandchildren.  Elton Funeral Home was in charge 
of arrangements.
