Virginian Pilot August 30, 1901

News has been received here of the death of Mr. Alfred W. Mills, a former 
resident of Norfolk, at his home, in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, in the 77th 
year of his age.  The deceased was a native of this city, in which he resided 
during the early days of his life. He married a Miss Fatherly, of Norfolk.  Mr. 
Mills was well known here as the manager of the clothing house of Noah Walker & 
Co., who years ago conducted business on Main Street.  His remains will arrive 
here on the Washington steamer this morning and will be conveyed at once to 
Elmwood Cemetery for funeral and interment.
