Minnis, first lieutenant of the Norfolk City Guard, died at his home in the Imperial Apartments, Bank Street, at 3:40 o'clock Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness, in the 28th year of his age. He is survived by his mother and several sisters. The funeral will be held from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church at 4 o'clock this afternoon and will be attended by the Norfolk City Guard. The service will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.G. Starr, D.D., and Rev. W.G. Parker, chaplain of the Fourth Virginia Regiment. MINNIS, son of Mrs. Florence A. Minnis, in the 28th year of his age. The funeral will take place THIS (Tuesday) AFTERNOON, June 29, at 4 o'clock, from the Cumberland Street M.E. Church. Minnis, first lieutenant of the Norfolk City Guard, was held from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was numerously attended. The obsequies were attended by the Norfolk City Guard and Merrimac Tribe of Red Men, of which he was a member. The service was conducted by Rev. W.G. Starr, D.D. and Rev. W.G. Parker, chaplain of the Fourth Virginia Regiment. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, among them a broken column from the Norfolk City Guard, a wreath from the Chinese Sunday School and a cluster of carnations from his young associates. The usual military salute was fired over the grave. Following were the pallbearers: Honorary - Colonel T.J. Nottingham, Major B.W. Salomonsky, W.A. McClanahan and William Wall Whiddit. Active - Lieutenant Mitchell, Sergeant M.E. Hecht, Corporal Langanbach, Percy L. Barrett, Lloyd Gilbert and H.A. Brockner.
