Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Thursday February 28, 1929
Mrs. Mary Anne Williams Mitchell, aged 83, widow of James A. Mitchell, died 
yesterday morning at 10:10 o'clock at the residence, Rosedale Apartments, 610 
West Princess Anne road.  She was a native of Northampton County, N.C. and had 
been a resident of Norfolk for 35 years.  Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the 
First Baptist Church.  Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. C.J. Wilson, Mrs. 
T.W. Davis and Mrs. M.B. White, of Norfolk; one son, J.L. Mitchell, of Yakima, 
Wash.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. G.A. 
Moore of Norfolk County and one brother, Matthew Jones, of Washington, N.C.  
Services will be held at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East 
Freemason street, Friday at 12 o'clock noon, the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., 
pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
