Mrs. Margarite M. Mitchell of 600 W. 28th St. was found lying on the floor beside her burning bed by firemen who answered a call about 10 p.m. Police said Mrs. Mitchell’s body was badly burned. Mrs. Mitchell was the widow of Lester Brian Mitchell, and the daughter of Mauro and Mrs. Mary Serra. She was a native of Flushing, Long Island, N.Y., and had lived in Norfolk since 1918. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Keefe of Norton; a brother, Nicholas Serra of Norfolk; five sisters, Mrs. Katherine Ricci, Mrs. Florence Contrada, Mrs. Emma Layton and Mrs. Ella Zaruba, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Clara Mitchell of Ramona, Calif.; and two grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30. A funeral service will be held in the funeral apartments Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will be at 832 West 45th Street.
