Born in Worcester Mass., November 13, 1879, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Mitchell. He was the head of Mitchell Sign Company and a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He had been a resident of Norfolk for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Mae Johnson Mitchell, and one son, F.J. Mitchell, both of Norfolk; one daughter, Mrs. M.C. Billington, of Minneapolis, Minn.; two step-sons, G.W. Lane, of Maple, N.C.. and J.H. Lane, of Norfolk; two step-daughters, Mrs. V.M. Soucle and Mrs. T.L. Thornton, both of Norfolk; one brother, James Mitchell, of Richmond, and two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Tench, of Petersburg, and Mrs. L.R. McIndoo, Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be conducted from the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
