Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday March 28, 1939
Joseph Aaron Mizell, 82, of 602 Liberty street, South Norfolk, died 
yesterday at 8:15 a.m. in a local hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Mizell was the son of the late Thomas and Charlotte Mizell and husband 
of the late Mrs. Willie Joseph Mizell.  He was a native of Bertie County, 
N.C., and had resided in this section for the last 40 years.
Mr. Mizell is survived by five daughters, Miss Alice Mizell and Miss Zora 
Mizell, both of South Norfolk; Mrs. George H. Burton and Mrs. H.W. McGrath, 
both of Norfolk, and Mrs. F.M. Lean of Atlantic City, N.J.; three sons, 
J.F., A.B. Mizell of South Norfolk and W.J. Mizell of New York City; nine 
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mizell was a member of Ross Baptist Church, of Bertie County, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 3 
o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
