Joseph Mollura, 1900 Debree Ave., was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m., Dare County coroner James M. Vannote said. Mollura and a companion, M. E. Wilson, about 40, of St. Petersburg, Fla., went into the water at 8 a.m., Vannote said. About 8:15 a.m. both had difficulty with the undercurrent. Pulled From Water Wilson was able to get ashore, and then went back into the water and pulled Mollura out of the surf at 8:23 a.m. He noticed the time because he was wearing a waterproof watch, said Vannote. Dr. L. E. Lee, vacationing nearby attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. When attempts to revive Mollura proved unsuccessful, Dr. Lee pronounced him dead. Mollura showed no signs of life after he was pulled out of the waler, Vannote said. He was staying with a party at the Shangri-La Cottage, Southern Shores. Relatives in Italy Mollura is survived by a sister, Miss Stephina Mollura, of Millazzo, Italy, three brothers, Gaetano Mollura and Giovanni Mollura, both of Millazzo, and Anthony Mollura, 1683 Cougar Ave., Norfolk. He was a member of Roma Lodge No. 254, Norfolk Lodge No. 33 of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America, and the Loyal Order of Moose. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. The body will be transferred to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments after post- mortem examination at DePaul Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. There will be a Rosary service at the funeral home tonight at 7:30. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
