Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 15, 1938
Mrs. Annie Virginia Monroe, aged 81 years, widow of William D. Monroe, died at 
a local hospital yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock after a short illness.
Mrs. Monroe was a native of Princess Anne County, but had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 65 years.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse D. and Mrs. Mary 
Barnes Dyer.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mazie V. Lane, of Ocean View; a son, William J. 
Monroe, of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the 
Derry Funeral Chapel, Colley and Harrington avenues.  The Rev. George Flora 
will officiate.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
