Norfolk Virginian Wednesday December 27, 1893

                         Death of Mrs. John W. Montague

Mrs. Annie L., wife of Mr. John W. Montague and daughter of Mr. Joseph Overton, 
died Sunday morning at 5 o'clock at the residence of her brother-in-law, Mr. Ben 
Martin, on Fourth Street, Portsmouth, Va. The deceased was in her 32d year and 
had endeared herself to a large circle of friends by her loving traits of 
character. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the 
above residence and was conducted by Rev. Dr. Wharton, of Norfolk, assisted by 
Rev. Mr. Kennard and Rev. Mr. Bosman, of Portsmouth.  The interment was in 
Elmwood Cemetery, this city, and the following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: 
J.T. Philpots, M. Rickets, J.W. Hart, W.A. Wallace, S. Heilman, C.M. Cruser, 
Edgar White, Robert Adkins.
