NORFOLK - John Robert Monteiro, 63, of 723 New Jersey Ave., died Friday in his 
home. He was the husband of Mrs. Marion Perkins Monteiro and a son of Robert 
Hansford and Mrs. Marie S. Bell Monteiro.
A native of Goochland County, he had lived here most of his life. He was a 
retired postal employee and was the mail clerk at Old Dominion University at the 
time of his death.
Surviving, besides his wife, are four brothers, Owen P. McLaughlin of 
Portsmouth, Frank M. McLaughlin and Paul M. McLaughlin of Norfolk and Austin J. 
McLaughlin of Bellbrook, Ohio; and two sisters, Mrs. Marie M. Cannon and Mrs. 
Mary Elizabeth Galloway of Norfolk.
The body will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Blessed Sacrament 
Catholic Chapel, 37th and Colley Avenue for a Requiem Mass Monday at 10 a.m. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The office of the Dead will be recited in the funeral home tonight at 7:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American 
Cancer Society.
