The passing away of this prominent young man was quite a shock to his family, the community and to all who knew him. He came to Norfolk at a very early age and won a ;wide range of friends and associates. He had been for a number of years and also at the time of his death, head bellman at the Fairfax Hotel. He was a member of the Oriole Beneficial and Social Club, one of the oldest clubs in the city. The funeral services were held at the Bank Street Baptist Church where he was a faithful member for a number of years at 2:30 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon. Rev. G. W. Watkins officiated and spoke in highest terms of the deceased as being one of very high character. There were many beautiful floral offerings. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Montier, daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Duncans, Jr of Tazewell WV, mother, Mrs. Bettie Montier, Rev. Ernest Montier of Washington DC, Mr. George Montier of Detroit, MI., Messrs. Wallace, John, McKinley and Armstrong Montier and Mrs. Clifton Paige of Norfolk, and Aurelia Montier of Boston, MA and a host of relatives and friends. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
