                             MOORE DIES IN HOTEL

                   Prominent Sports Figure Once Fire Captain

John Henry Moon, 58, widely known in local circles as Jack Moore, died in his 
hotel room here last night at 11:40 o'clock. He had been ill but a short time, 
having been unable to carry on his work as Norfolk representative of Bill Lewis, 
wrestling promoter, since Tuesday.
Buck Miles, local professional football player and wrestling referee, was with 
Moore as the end came.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Moore had resided in Norfolk for many years. He was 
a familiar figure at sports events and had served in many capacities in 
connection with mat and ring attractions in the city.
At one time Moore was a vaudeville performer. He had also served as a member and 
captain of the Norfolk fire department.
He is survived by a wife and daughter in San Francisco.
The body has been removed to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments 1501 Colonial 
Avenue where funeral services will take place Saturday at 11 a.m.

John Henry Moon (“Jack Moore”) Funeral services for Mr. Moon, better known as 
“Jack Moore,” whose death occurred Wednesday night, will be held at the chapel 
of the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow morning 
at 11 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
