Mr. Moore, who died April 7, was a trustee of New Calvary church and a financial supporter of the church building drive; and was owner-operator of a grocery store and headed a firm which handled real estate and residential and commercial building contracting. A veteran of World War 1, and alumnus of Norfolk Mission college, Mr. Moore was also a member of several organizations including the Bellman’s, Tux, Non Pareils and Lancasters clubs, the Sons of Norfolk and the Masonic lodge. Music for the funeral was by the church choir with solos by Mrs. Mamie Kornegy and Elder Wilson, pastor of the church, who also delivered the eulogy, the church paper and adknowledgements were read by Mrs. Pearl Holloman, church clerk, and statements were made by the Rev. S. R. Johnson Jr., pastor of St. John’s AME Church, and the Rev. D. W. Mouring. Mr. Moore was interred in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
