He was born on December 30, 1927, to the late Harry P. Moore Jr. and Olive B. Moore, in Norfolk, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanette T. Moore. Pat is survived by his four children, Michael P. Moore and his wife Patrice, daughter, Kathryn Moore Van Buren and her husband Bill, son, Patrick T. Moore and his wife Barbarann, daughter, Jean M. Moore and her husband, Klaus Illig, and sister, Ann Marie Sessler. He loved his family deeply and was extremely proud of his eight grandchildren. Pat graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School. He studied at Belmont Abbey and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Vincent College in 1950. After college, Pat served in the Army during the Korean War conflict as a commissioned lieutenant soldier with the atomic energy unit. He later attended the Medical College of Virginia and received his degree in Dentistry in 1958. "Painless Pat" practiced Dentistry in the Tidewater area until he retired at the age of 81. As an animal lover, he even included a police canine as one of his patients. Throughout his dental career, Pat was a member of the Tidewater Dental Association, serving as Secretary, Treasurer, and President. Pat was an avid sportsman and mentor. He played semi-professional baseball for the Colonials in the Albemarle North Carolina league and played during his Army service at Killeen Base, Fort Hood Texas. He was a baseball coach with the Azalea Little League and a dedicated Boy Scout leader at Christ the King Church. He was especially proud to mentor five young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Other contributions included his service with the Optimistic Club and Saint and Sinners. He also acted as Chairman of the Virginia State Liability Insurance Company. Pat enjoyed cultivating his life-long friendships, golfing, fishing, hunting and being with his family. While Pat was a humble man, his family remembers all of the people he has touched through his accomplishments. A Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 6th at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, Virginia, with Father Daniel Klem officiating. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
