Moore, who departed this life at his home, No. 107 Park avenue, was born in Princess Anne county in 1852. When the war between the States broke out he was too young to enter the ranks of the army, but rendered the Confederate government such service as was in his power. For a number of years after the war he was in the Coast Survey Service of the United States. He was engaged in business in this city for over twenty years. He was twice married. In 1876 to Miss Fisher and in 1889 to Miss Nannie Smothers. In politics he was a Democrat. A widow and six children survive him. The funeral was held from the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, Brambleton, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. Washington Lodge, No. 2, I.O.O.F. and Brambleton Lodge, No. 56, K. of P., of which he was a member were present in bodies. The services were conducted by Rev. E.B. McCluer, assisted by Rev. J.J. Hall, D.D., of Park Avenue Baptist Church. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
