Vernon Avenue, went to be with our Lord on February 24, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 19, 1923. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Morgan Sr., and her mother, Edna Abengosa. She was educated at St. Joseph's Catholic School and Booker T. Washington High, both in Norfolk, VA, and Sacred Heart Convent School in Philadelphia, PA. She retired from Hofheimer's Shoe Store, where she worked many years. She was a devoted member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, where she served as a member of the Women's Club. She is survived by her five children: Frances Morgan Chapman (Walter Sr.), Marcelia Morgan Posey (Dedrick), Denise Morgan, Dennis Jr. (Anne, deceased), and Joseph Sr. (Mary). She will be missed by her 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and her friends and neighbors. A wake will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Graves Funeral Home from 6 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 12 noon at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, located at 3000 Church Street. A repast will be held at the Basilica Social Hall immediately after interment.
