Mrs. Devetta Morris, Norfolk business woman, died Wednesday morning Nov. 15, at 
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Delores Harding, in Kenbridge, VA.  She had been 
sick for four years.  She was the widow of Robert Morris.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wills, Mrs. Morris was born in Edenton, NC.  
She was 62 years old.

For a number of years Mrs. Morris was widely known as the owner and operator of 
Mt. Vernon Hotel on Brambleton avenue in Norfolk.  When she had to give up her 
management of the hotel on account of sickness, it was operated by her son - in 
- law, Milton Harding.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Builder’s Club of Metropolitan AMEZ Church where 
she held her membership.  She was also a member of the United Order of Tents.

In addition to her daughter and son - in - law, Mrs. Morris is survived by four 
grandchildren, one brother, Rodger Willis, Philadelphia; one aunt, Mrs. Emma B. 
Wilson, Norfolk;  one niece, Mrs. Willie W. Ward, Norfolk and several cousins 
and other relatives.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. at Metropolitan AMEZ 
Church, Norfolk, with the pastor, Dr. Richard A. Councill, officiating. 

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge of 
arrangements.
