Morris Popular Traveling Salesman is Dead William Sherwood Morris died at the Norfolk Protestant Hospital at 5:45 o’clock yesterday afternoon. He was in the sixty-first year of his age. Mr. Morris was well and favorably known in Norfolk, and had many friends. He was regarded as a man of the highest integrity. He was a native of Norfolk. He lived at No. 464 Freemason Street, and was a number of years a traveling salesman for Oberndorfer & Co. He traveled through North Carolina and Virginia. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge, No. 9, Knights of Pythias and of the Cumberland Street Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow and son, W.S. Morris, Jr. The funeral will take place from the Cumberland Street Church at 5 o’clock this afternoon. The interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Norfolk Landmark Thurs., Aug. 6, pg. 4 The funeral of William Sherwood Morris, who died at the Protestant Hospital Tuesday afternoon, in the 61st year of his age, was held yesterday afternoon from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. William G. Starr officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. The members of the Norfolk Lodge No. 9, Knights of Pythias, attended, and there were many floral tributes. Floral offerings for the funeral were both numerous and beautiful, among them being a standing anchor from the house of Oberndorfer and Company and the house’s employees. The pall-bearers for the funeral were W.T. Webb and Walter A. Edwards, representing Pythians, and B.E. Oberndorfer, J.E. Davenport, Lee Lewellyn and Jerome McBride.
