She was a daughter of Warren W. and Mrs. Sarah E. Whitson Cooper. A native of North Carolina, she lived in the Norfolk area most of her life. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, past president of Quota Club of Norfolk, and a member of Tidewater Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was secretary to the late Dr. Robert L. Payne Sr. and Dr. George Duncan until her retirement. She is survived by a brother, Clyde W. Cooper of Portsmouth; five nieces, Mrs. Audrey L. Bowden of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Edwin B. Forrest, Miss Ruth Norris and Mrs. William Redwood of Norfolk and Mrs. Edward B. Bobbitt of Silver Spring, Md.; and a nephew, Myron Gray of Portsmouth. A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John Wynn Myers of Park Place United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to charity.
