 The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Friday September 29, 1928
Mrs. Virginia P. Morse, widow of Burwell Newton Morse and daughter of the late 
Joseph and Amanda Humphries Cowell, of Currituck County, N.C., died yesterday 
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the residence, 722 Yarmouth street. A native of 
Currituck County, N.C., she had been a resident of Norfolk for 60 years. 
Surviving her are one son, Joseph T. Morse, and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be held at the residence, tomorrow afternoon at 4 
o'clock, the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist 
Church, of which she was a member, officiating. Interment will be private in 
Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests friends to omit flowers.
