Morton, 70, a deacon of Bank Street Baptist Church, was given final rites Saturday at the church. The Rev. J. B. Henderson, Bank Street pastor, delivered the eulogy. Mr. Morton died in his home at 1822 Carswell street June 13 after a long illness. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge. A native of New Bern, NC, Mr. Morton lived in Norfolk 62 years and was retired from Colonial Stores. He was also a member of Bank Street Church Men’s Bible class, and the Rising Sun Masonic lodge. Mr. Morton’s survivors include his wife, Mrs. Corine P. Morton; a daughter, Mrs. Helen M. Mabon of New York; a grandson, two great-grandsons, a great granddaughter and a nephew.
