Norfolk Virginian June 2 & 3, 1897
Nicholas Morton, a painter, who, along with another man of the same craft, fell 
from a scaffold while painting Mr. Salomonsky’s house some days ago, died at St. 
Vincent’s Hospital yesterday morning at 2:40 o’clock from his injuries. He was 
thirty-nine years of age.
The funeral will take place at 3 o’clock this afternoon from the home of his 
father, Mr. Peter C. Morton, No. 137 Kelley avenue.

The funeral of Mr. Nicholas Morton, who died at St. Vincent’s Hospital Tuesday 
morning, as the result of an Injury received in a fall, took place at the 
residence of his father, Mr. Peter C. Morton, No. 137 Kelly avenue, yesterday 
afternoon at 3 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Doherty, of 
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
