MOSS - Suddenly on the morning of Sunday, the 28th inst., LIZZIE V. MOSS, 
daughter of Mrs. Augusta F. and the late Thomas Vernon Moss.

                 Death and Burial of a Popular Young Lady

At the Granby Street M.E. Church yesterday afternoon the funeral of Miss Lizzie 
V. Moss, who died at her home on Sunday morning took place in the presence of a 
very large and deeply affected congregation. Six months ago Miss Moss was the 
picture of health and loveliness, so robust and full of life that the thought of 
death would have been chased from the most foreboding mind at sight of her. 
Truly never was the force of that well worn quotation, "In the midst of life we 
are in death," more startlingly exemplified than in this instance, or a 
community bereft of a more generally beloved lady. The grief stricken throng 
which attended the funeral was an evidence of the esteem in which the deceased 
was held. The church was crowded and not one of all the multitude but spared a 
tear for her to whom they had assembled to pay the last sad tribute of respect. 
Rev. S.S. Lambeth, pastor, conducted the service, assisted by the Rev. R.M. 
Saunders, and preached an affecting sermon. At the conclusion of the impressive 
ceremonies the remains were followed to the cemetery by a lengthy cortege and 
laid in their last resting place with the solemn rites of the church.  A devoted 
Christian gone to her rest, she needs not now the sympathy of friends so 
lavishly bestowed.  May her family and friends be comforted by this reflection.
