Murphy, secretary of Burrow-Martin & Company, who died yesterday afternoon at 12:05 o'clock after an illness of two months, will be conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Murphy, who was 69 years old, was widely known in Norfolk and news of his death came as a shock to his many friends. Mr. Murphy, a native of Richmond, was the son of the late Matthew and Mrs. Naomi Gleason Murphy, had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 38 years. Born in Richmond, he moved later to Charlotte, N.C. where he was connected with a drug firm and then worked for a while in Baltimore. He came to Norfolk from Baltimore in 1896. Mr. Murphy came to Norfolk to work at Martin's Pharmacy and made rapid progress in the business. He continued with the company after it became Burrow-Martin & Company and at the time of his death was one of the stockholders. A widower, Mr. Murphy is survived by one brother, M.M. Murphy, of Charlotte and one sister, Miss Nina Murphy, also of Charlotte. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum. The body was removed from the apartment in the Botetourt Apartments to the funeral apartments of H.D. Oliver at 610-612 East Freemason Street. ****************** MURPHY, HARRY GLEASON - At a local hospital, Tuesday, April 10th, 1934, at 12:05 o’clock p.m., HARRY GLEASON, son of the late Matthew and Naomi Gleason Murphy, in the 70th year of his age. Remains will be taken from H. D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, Nos. 610-612 East Freemason street, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON at 4 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
