Murphy. He was a member of American Legion Post 60 and was employed 27 years by Curtis- Bay Towing Co. of Virginia. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving, besides his wife and mother are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Alden Colley Jr. of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Robert Yates, of Chesapeake; a son, Vernon L. Murphy of Camp LeJeune, N.C. and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in Smith & Williams Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Meredith Garrett. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
