Robert A. Murphy, Jr., 85 ,passed away September 23, 2018 in a local hospital. A 
native of New York, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Margaret E. Murphy.
He was a retired gas engineer for Virginia Natural Gas and was a longtime member 
of St Pius X Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janet M. Murphy, of Norfolk; children, Katie Murphy, 
Laura Allen-Hatcher and Mark Allen; grandchildren Duncan, Wednesday, Trinity, 
Shawn and Kya.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic 
Church with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apts. Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements and online condolences may be 
offered to the family at hdoliver.com
