The Virginian Pilot Wednesday January 16, 1980
Mrs. Dorothy Gilbert Murphy, 72, of 1012 Park Ave., South Norfolk, the wife of 
Herbert D. Murphy and a native of Staunton, died Tuesday in Chesapeake General 
Hospital.
Survivors also include three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Clinton of Lynnhaven, Fla., 
Mrs. Etta Boone of Chesapeake and Mrs. Lola Snyder of Staunton; a sister, Mrs. 
Irene Hayes of Richmond; a brother, William Gilbert of Staunton; 13 
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South 
Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Henry V. Napier.  Burial will be in Riverside 
Memorial Park, Norfolk.
