Murphy and daughter of the late Samuel and Mrs. Winifred Leigh McCaughey, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock after an illness of one week. She was a native of Port Hope, Canada, and had been a resident of Norfolk since early girlhood. She is survived by a son, Cecil V. Murphy; two sisters, Mrs. W.T. Williamson and Mrs. Ella M. Toler, both of Norfolk; two brothers, W.C. Gleason and C.L. Tuthill, both of Portsmouth, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Methodist Church and the Woman's Benefit Association of the Maccabees. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, Thirty-fifth street at Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Rev. W.C. Gum, pastor of Ghent Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
