Mr. Murphy was a native of London, Ontario, and a well-known resident of Norfolk for the past 48 years, and for the past 44 years had been connected with the Norfolk & Washington Steamboat Company. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was past State deputy and fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, Mrs. Margaret McDermin Murphy, he is survived by three sons, J. Leo Murphy, of Manteo, N.C., Lieut. Comdr. Vincent R. Murphy, U.S.N., and Robert A. Murphy, of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Sallie E. Weidman, of Norfolk; a brother, Edward J. Murphy, of Baltimore; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Michael Joseph Murphy - Funeral services for Mr. Murphy, whose death occurred Tuesday night at the residence, 2 Warwick Apartments, 722 Redgate avenue, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the residence tonight at 8 o’clock.
