NORFOLK — Robert Anderson  Murphy, 60, husband of Mrs. Margaret E. Murphy and 
son of Mrs. Margaret Anderson Murphy and the late Michael J. Murphy, died 
yesterday at 12:45 p.m. at the residence, 901 Spotswood Ave.
Mr. Murphy, retired executive of the North American Shipping & Trading Co., was 
a lifelong resident of Norfolk.
Besides his wife and mother, surviving are two sons, Robert A. Murphy, Jr., and 
James E. Murphy, both of Larchmont, N.Y.; two brothers, Vice-Adm. Vincent 
Murphy, USN (ret.), and Maj. J. L. Murphy, USMC (ret.); two aunts, Mrs. J. A. 
Kennedy and Mrs. E. L. Cote, both of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and 
nephews.
Mr. Murphy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apart¬ments to Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church for services Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the Funeral Apartments tonight at 
8:30 o’clock.
