Col. Clarence M. Murphy, 67, of 327 Brout Drive, a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, died Friday in Mary Immaculate Hospital. He was a native of North Eastham, Mass., and had lived in this area since 1937. He had also been a pilot for Dow Chemicals. He was a member of Northampton Church of Christ and The Retired Officers Association. Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Murphy; a daughter, Gloria Cross of Chesapeake; a son, Marine Corps Capt. Alan S. Murphy of El Toro, Calif.; three sisters, Edyth Vivian Hill and Marion F. Ryder, both of Welfleet, Mass., and Natalie B, Shaffer of Beaver Falls, Pa.; two brothers, Arthur Murphy of Hyannis, Mass., and Malcolm I. Murphy of Wellfleet; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Revs. Thomas Hunt and Frank Forehand. Burial with military honors will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
