Born April 27, 1923, she was the third child of William T. and Bessie Spiller, who predeceased her. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and attended Norfolk State College. She was the widow of Edward W. "Brick" Murray and she was retired from the Norfolk City Adult Continuing Education Program. She was predeceased by her two daughters, Lemoyne Brown and Hermione Barber and her brother, Michael Spiller and her sister, Hermione Ford. She is survived by her son, Edward "Butch" Murray, her grandson, James Murray, her niece, Robin Frazier, her grandsons Maurice Barber and Alton Brown, granddaughters, Julie Richardson and Lisa Murray, her sisters-in-law Barbara Clinton and Leola Mason, and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held on August 2, 2012 at 12noon at Grace Episcopal Church, 1400 E. Brambleton Avenue with Father Harold J. Cobb, Jr. officiating.
