She was born in Findlay, Ohio on July 4, 1928, to the late Kenton L. Murray and Veronica McGonagle Murray. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Murray Callahan. She is survived by her two brothers, Kenton L. Murray, Jr. of Norfolk and Richard Tyler Murray and his wife, Jeanne of Newark, Delaware. Anne attended Holy Trinity School in Norfolk from first grade through twelfth, graduating in 1947. She graduated from Dunbarton College in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Elementary Education in 1966. Anne devoted her life to serving the Lord, spending many years as a Sister of the Holy Cross CSC. She was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and enjoyed music, reading and prayerful thought. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk, Virginia on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel is handling arrangements. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Westminster Canterbury Hospice in Virginia Beach for their devotion to “Sister Anne” and her well-being. Left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
