Mr. Myers was born in Norfolk and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was chaplain emeritus of the Disabled American Veterans. He was Virginia's oldest Eagle Scout and Veterans Affairs advocate. He was active on behalf of the Boy Scouts for more than 70 years and had been a member of Troop 1 in Norfolk. Mr. Myers was a member of Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow and had received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Atlantic Masonic Lodge 2, Scottish Rite Bodies and Grice Commandrey, John Walters Chapter of Royal Arch 68, Khedive Temple, Old Dominion Order of Eastern Star 100, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon 141. He was past district commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars District 2, past commander of VFW Post 3160, and past commander of Disabled American Veterans 4. Mr. Myers was a member of National Order of Trench Rats-Past Golden Rodent, and American Legion 327 Tidewater Post. He was past chaplain of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 60 and a member of Fleet Reserve Branch 5. Mr. Myers was a member of American Society of Safety Engineers. He was active in veterans affairs and had given more than 10,000 volunteer hours to the VA Medical Center in Hampton. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Evans Myers; a daughter, Louise Myers White of Virginia Beach; a son, Henry Lee Myers of Florence, S.C.; a sister, Margaret C. Barlow of Stephens City, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. The funeral, with Masonic rites, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. John Mason. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery . Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Disabled American Veterans' service will be held at 7 p.m. during the visitation.
